An Evening of Glimmers of Hope in San Miguel de Allende
On June 6th, Pueblo Bonito Vantage San Miguel de Allende hosted a night devoted to generosity, community, and the belief that hope grows brightest when it is shared. Presented by the Letty Coppel Foundation, the Destellos de Esperanza Gala brought together family, friends, artists, and community leaders for a celebration with real purpose: every peso raised will support local programs that help those in need throughout San Miguel de Allende.
The evening began with a cocktail hour and an art exhibition featuring the work of two local artists, a fitting opening in a city celebrated worldwide for its creative spirit. Guests mingled among the pieces before a lively auction took center stage, offering coveted stays at Montecristo Estates Luxury Villas, Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach Golf & Spa Resort, Pueblo Bonito Vantage San Miguel de Allende, and Pueblo Bonito Vantage Centro Histórico Mazatlán. Bidding was spirited, and every winning paddle raised meant more resources for the foundation's work.
Heartfelt speeches followed from Mrs. Letty Coppel, Sofía Estrada of the Letty Coppel Foundation, and Mr. Ernesto Coppel, each reflecting on the foundation's mission and the community that makes it possible. José Luis Mogollón, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Grupo Pueblo Bonito, raised a toast to thank everyone in attendance for their support.
Dinner was nothing short of exquisite. Chef Anaisa Guevara of LaFrida and Fellini's led the kitchen alongside chefs César Vargas and Sergio Jiménez from our Los Cabos restaurants, while a violin and cello duo set an elegant tone throughout the meal.
The guest list reflected the depth of the foundation's ties to the community. Letty Coppel was joined by her daughter Hayley Coppel and Ernesto Coppel, along with several of Pueblo Bonito's general managers and directors. Leaders from local charities and organizations attended as well, including Leticia Peña, director of the Red Cross; Mary Micalco, director of the Crisma Foundation; Sofía Espinoza, director of NGOs; and José Cruz González, director of the Municipal Sports Commission. San Miguel's celebrated arts community was well represented by renowned painters Alejandro Rivera and Mario Galaviz, painter and sculptor Antonio Loza Hecht, gallery owners Leticia Fernández de Noyola and Cristina Pineda, and Eduardo Adame, president and director of the San Miguel de Allende Arts Festival. Rotary Club members Andrea Spessard, Lee Carter, and Carlota Zertuche rounded out an inspiring gathering of people who give generously of their time and talents.
The gala is only one glimpse of what the Letty Coppel Foundation does year-round. Guided by its motto of bringing happiness to families, the foundation approaches social assistance from a family and community perspective, with the dignified treatment of every person at the heart of its work. Its efforts span three fields of action: social assistance, community development, and culture and traditions. The foundation also operates two social assistance centers in Los Cabos and Mazatlán, where thousands of families receive free services including medical care, nutrition support, physical rehabilitation therapy, psychology, and self-employment workshops.
Thanks to everyone who attended, bid, and gave, the foundation can continue creating brighter futures for families in San Miguel de Allende, one bright spark at a time.
